My 3 Favorite Money Making APPS!

Let’s talk money!

Now I have your attention…

Making money is easier than you think! Today I am going to share the apps that I have personally used and my experience with them. I will also leave my referral code so that if you choose to open an account or profile with these apps you can get some free money.

I personally love Acorns! Acorns is an app where you invest your spare change automatically. So for instance, if you go to McDonald’s and spend $10.40 Acorns will round up to $11.00 and automatically invest $0.60.

What if I do not want to enroll in automatic spare change investing? You can sign up for automatic deductions instead. I prefer this because every week I know exactly what will be invested.

It is also important, to be honest with yourself. Why do you want to invest? How risky do you want to be? For me, I am very risky (Acorns calls this “aggressive”) when it comes to investing. Now, this can be a gain or a loss due to the risk.

If you are looking to just save money (or make a few dollars) then picking a low-risk investment portfolio would be best. When picking low-risk investments you will not see a large amount of cash flow. This means if you invest 5 dollars every week, for four weeks your balance would probably be around $20-30 dollars (this is an estimate).

Now if you want to make money then you’d pick a higher risk investment. When I did this, I invested a total of $20 dollars in one month. My end balance was $120 dollars. Meaning I gain $100 dollars through investing.

This sounds great, right?

Well, realistically this doesn’t always happen. Once I had about $140 dollars at the beginning of the month and two weeks into the month my balance was $100 dollars.

Overall, pay attention to your money because letting your money sit and grow is great however, stocks fluctuate. It is important to check on your account weekly especially when you are doing high-risk investments.

Lastly, I often withdraw money from this account in case of emergencies however, I have a short-term investing account. Also, it is important that you go over fees on Acorns website. There are monthly fees that vary from $1-$3 dollars.

Poshmark (Selling Items)

Poshmark is my second favorite money making app. I am a new member of Poshmark and so far I’ve had a great experience with it.

For starters, you can use your social media as an advertising platform for your Poshmark closet. Poshmark makes it simple with their "share" button. You can copy and paste the link, share with Pinterest or share with Facebook. When I shared my closet via Pinterest I got over 300 followers.

What do I do on Poshmark?

You sell the things in your closet you do not want anymore. Things like shoes, bags, dresses, tops, pants and more.

What should I know before selling?

Before selling be sure the items are in good shape. You do not want to sell something with rips or holes. Also, if you have something in your closet you have never worn you can sell that for more money with the tag as proof.

Do I pay for shipping?

No, the person who bought the item will pay for shipping. Once that person has bought the item you will receive an email from Poshmark with the shipping label. Print the shipping label as soon as possible and drop it off to your local mailbox or post office.

  • Be sure your photos are clear. Take more than one photo (I learned this the hard way).

  • Be sure your description is detailed. Do not write "pretty shirt".

  • It is important to leave your email notifications on. When someone buys an item from your closet Poshmark will send you an email with that person's information. You then have two days to ship out the product.

Overall, Poshmark is a great app that lets you buy and sell stuff. When it comes to selling, Poshmark makes the process super easy for you. All you have to do is:

  1. Find an item you want to sell.

  2. Take a picture of that item and post it.

  3. Figure out how much you want to sell the item for (Poshmark will show you how much profit you will make with the price you want to sell the item for.)

  4. Share the item via social media.

  5. Wait for someone to buy the product.

Ibotta is an app that pays you whenever you shop. Ibotta covers stores like Walmart, Target, Publix, Amazon, Walgreens and more.

They also provide extra cash offers. This month you get $1.00 back when purchasing 3 Non-GMO food products. This month you can also get $3.00 back when purchasing two alcoholic beverages. These offers expire quickly (10.8.2018) but new offers show up all the time.

The more you buy the more cash back you get. At first, I would go food shopping and then look through Ibotta to see if I could earned anything. This method is not very effective. It is best to look through Ibotta first to see what they have available, that way you can make adjustments.

Ibotta also has brandless deals which are great. You can buy any kind of chips or milk and still get cash back. They have cash back deals on popular food brands like Tyson® or Kellogg's®.

Important Information to Know:

  • You cannot withdraw cash unless you meet their $20 minimum.

  • You must have the receipt in order to receive your cash back.

  • The receipt must be in good condition.

  • Some items you purchase will require the item's barcode before scanning the receipt.

Lastly, You can withdraw the cash earned into a PayPal account or Venmo account. You can also select a variety of gift cards. It is important to know you cannot withdraw the cash earned unless it is above $20

This sounds like a lot but it is really easy! When you use my referral code you can get $10 dollars. That is already half of the cash withdraw minimum.
